Behind SummitFlag

An app built from real experience. Not a productivity spreadsheet.

I’m Arnaud Herault, a university lecturer and researcher, and the founder of SummitFlag. I built the app around something I have seen for years: you can want to succeed, be fully capable, and still not know how to approach the work.

SummitFlag is an independent project, shaped by my experience with students and developed separately from my university work.

The journey

A student journey that was anything but a straight line.

Uncertain choices, changes of direction, then a few encounters that made all the difference.

I didn’t create SummitFlag because I always had the perfect method or a perfectly mapped-out path. Quite the opposite.

My own student years included uncertain choices, changes of direction, doubts, and encounters that changed everything. I know what it feels like to move forward without really knowing why, to lack a method, or simply not to have found the one that works for you yet.

Then came a few turning points. Teachers. Encounters. A different way of working, and a different understanding of what I was capable of.

Those experiences eventually led me to a PhD and then to higher education. Since 2020, I have been teaching at the Université Catholique de l’Ouest in Angers, France. Supporting students has become a central part of my day-to-day work.

What I hear from students

Different journeys. The same questions keep coming back.

Over the years, I have met and supported hundreds of students. Their profiles are different, but some of the same difficulties appear again and again.

How do I actually get started?
How do I study effectively?
Why can’t I stay consistent?
Which method actually fits me?
How do I move forward when I don’t even know where to begin?
How do I restart after a day when nothing worked?

The problem isn’t always a lack of willpower.

The idea behind SummitFlag
Why SummitFlag exists

Turn support into a tool you can carry in your pocket.

You can genuinely want to succeed and still not know how to approach the work. You can be capable and lack a method. You can feel motivated one day and completely lost the next.

Most importantly, there is no magic method that works for everyone.

That belief became SummitFlag: a simple, concrete, progressive tool designed to help you set a direction, find a way of working that fits, and actually take action.

01 · Set a direction

Know what matters now.

When everything feels mixed together, the first goal is not doing more. It is finding a clear direction again.

02 · Find your rhythm

Match effort to reality.

Energy, focus and recovery matter. Sustainable progress starts with the state you are actually in today.

03 · Take action

Make one step count.

A method only matters if it helps you start, restart, and gradually build something consistent.

The direction

Help every young person find their own way forward.

Because before trying to move faster, sometimes you first need to find your path.
